Mr. Spanos is president and chief executive officer of PepsiCo’s Greater China Region. In its global portfolio of food and beverage brands, PepsiCo has 22 different brands that generate more than $1 billion each in annual retail sales. With net revenues of over $63 billion, PepsiCo’s main businesses also make hundreds of other enjoyable foods and beverages that are respected household names throughout the world.
Mr. Spanos, a 20-year PepsiCo veteran, was appointed to his role in September 2014 to assume responsibility for PepsiCo’s China business across beverages, foods and dairy. He leads the business with Katty Lam, chairman of the Greater China Region. Mr. Spanos previously served as senior vice president and chief customer officer for PepsiCo North America Beverages.
After beginning his PepsiCo career as a territory sales manager and unit manager in the Philadelphia Market Unit (MU), Mr. Spanos progressed through several leadership positions, including director of retail sales and vice president/general manager for the Eastern Virginia MU, country manager for Turkey, vice president of retail sales for the Northeast Business Unit (BU), and vice president/general manager for the Florida MU. He also served as senior vice president and general manager for the West BU.
Prior to his SVP/CCO role at PepsiCo North America Beverages, he spent three years in New York, first as head of sales for Pepsi Bottling Group, and then as senior vice president, retail selling and execution for Pepsi Beverages Company. In these roles, Mr. Spanos drove the company’s national selling strategy across all channels, built processes to align customer and revenue plans with annual operating plans, relentlessly focused on field execution, drove Power of One initiatives, and led the realignment of selling teams to meet changing customer and consumer demands.
